A backconnect proxy is a gateway server that automatically routes each incoming request through a different IP from a large proxy pool. You connect to one endpoint, and the backend selects and rotates the exit IP.
You configure your client to connect to a single gateway address and port (e.g., gate.proxy.com:7777). The backconnect server receives your request and selects an exit node from its IP pool based on your targeting preferences (country, city, ISP). Each request can exit through a different IP. Some backconnect setups allow sticky sessions using session parameters in the username field.
This is largely a plan and configuration choice, not a technical limitation.
USER-backconnect-session-task01Everything lives in the username -- add "backconnect" to any proxy credential to apply backconnect proxy to a single task. Swap "task01" for a new label to spin up an independent, isolated identity.
KnoxProxy sticky sessions persist up to 30 minutes on residential (60 on mobile), and the window refreshes with activity.
Each session or connection label gets its own exit, so parallel identities never collide.
This costs nothing beyond bandwidth -- successful responses are billed, not the session or connection itself.
Run as many parallel sessions or connections as the job needs -- concurrency is not capped on any plan.
A data pipeline connects to one backconnect endpoint and sends 100,000 requests, each automatically routed through a different residential IP in the target country.
Backconnect proxies simplify proxy management by giving you a single endpoint instead of managing lists of individual proxy IPs. They handle rotation, health checking, and failover automatically.
They describe the same concept from different perspectives. "Backconnect" refers to the gateway architecture (one endpoint, many exit IPs). "Rotating" describes the behavior (IP changes per request). Most rotating proxy services use backconnect infrastructure.
You can specify targeting criteria (country, city, ISP type) but not individual IPs. The backconnect server selects the best available IP matching your criteria. For specific IP control, use static proxies instead.
